It's about Having fun!
The earliest memories I have of myself cycling is from when I was a small child. I still remember being allowed to ride my bike only in the driveway of my parent's house. Soon I was allowed to venture onto the sidewalk in front of the house and eventually I was given permission to ride as far as the end of the street.
But it was what was beyond my street that enticed me to explore... What was the other side of the block like? I became obsessed with wanting to explore my neighbourhood on my bike. When I worked up the courage to disobey my parent's orders not to go around the block, I did just that. I quickly pedaled around the block and made it home before anyone saw me.
That was the beginning of my cycling obsession.
The Benefits of Cycling
There are SO MANY benefits when it comes to cycling. The amount of pollution that is expelled from a bike is not even existent. It's a pollution free way of travelling and at the same time your giving your body a full cardiovascular exercise. Knowing that I'm taking care of my body alone makes it fun for me to cycle. Simply Google benefits of cycling and read up for yourself just how much your body benefits from this exercise.
It's about having fun,
It's about taking care of our environment,
And most of all it's about taking care of ourselves so we can fully enjoy the environment and have fun at the same time.
Enjoying Cycling to the fullest
When I first heard about The Great Waterfront Trail Adventure Tour I was very excited to register and be a part of it. I admit though that I was hesitant too. I didn't know what to expect and cycling from Niagara-on-the-Lake to the border of Quebec seemed to daunting and overwhemling for my brain to digest. Afterall, I had never done anything like this before. However I still went for it and I am so glad that I did because it has truly been an eye-opening and heart-filling experience. The sense of accomplishment after having completed not only the entire ride but the daily rides is great to feel.
You walk away from this tour having learned more about:
- our environment, how important it is to keep it safe and healthy for everyone to enjoy
- the communities in Ontario that reside close to Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River
- your own body and it's limits and just how far you can push yourself
- and about each other and how we are all in this together and it takes a lot of people to pull this off.
